After crediting the story in this game so heavily, I was disappointed by the ending.
It has been over six years since the game's release, so I do not believe it is much of a spoiler at this point to say that the ending is very "Halo 2"-esque. Raziel steps into some kind of time portal to chase after Kain. He is greeted by Moebius, the Time Streamer, who leaves us with a cryptic riddle and that's it. Roll credits.
I found the ending almost unacceptable, given the story-telling quality up to that point. On the bright side, Soul Reaver 2 was released on PS2 and we shall see how the story plays out from where it left off in this game.
