After a rocky start, Resistance ultimately delivered a good, but not great, experience.
The fights were pretty solid and they give you plenty of ammo for most of the weapons. On normal difficulty, though, I completed the final area without dying. Given my slightly below average ability at FPS games, that means the game is pretty easy overall. I did not try out the harder difficulty settings unfortunately, as I have no time available right now.
I did not like the level transitions. The blur/fade out when you reach the "end" of a level is too abrupt (the beginning is too). The story is mostly voiced over maps or photos with few cut scenes, which is pretty boring.
One enemy was too easy, since it only hopped between path nodes and you could just aim at a spot on the wall from a distance and clear out entire rooms without any danger whatsoever.
Overall, I enjoyed playing through the game, but it did not capture my imagination or pull me into the role.
