Extraction Point is a good, albeit short continuation of the F.E.A.R. story from the original title back in 2005.

While I cannot recall all the details of the original, one thing I do remember is being unimpressed by the ninja-like soldiers sporting Predator-style active camouflage. Extraction Point totally reverses that opinion, especially the first time the enemy is encountered. I saw the shimmering of the active camo, looked right at it, and had just enough time to register what was going on before he jumped off the wall and disappeared. It was thrilling.

The combat is great and the weapons are still solid. I do not recall the mini-gun from the original, but I sure do like it here. I pitied the fools who stepped out from cover when I had that beast locked on to their position!

While the game offers plenty of chilling horror moments, I did not feel like the story moved forward at all. Maybe it would have been more significant if I had played the original more recently. In any case, other than reintroduce characters that I thought were dead and gone, nothing really happened in terms of story.

Overall this was a good game, but the lack of special features and the short campaign make this a better rental candidate than a purchase.
