Applying the 100x damage cheat made the otherwise unbalanced combat bearable, though it did trivialize boss fights. It also allowed me to finish the game, which I would not have done without it.
The story ends with more of a sputter than a bang. Each of the endings closes with a brief in-game cut scene and the narrator drawing things to a close. Three endings are available and only one save point away, so experiencing all three is possible without additional back-tracking.
The wow moments, as Hemu calls them, were enjoyable and memorable (undead techno dance-off!). The songs, with sing-along lyrics and simple tunes, were a pleasure not often found in games. The writing and dialog were funny, taking jabs at fantasy and role-playing games in general. Sadly, the unbalanced, punishing hack-n-slash combat relegate this game to average, despite these fun and unique aspects.
