Burnout was perhaps the first "killer app" for PSP. It is a great racing game and a compelling reason to purchase the PSP.

The caveat to that last statement is that Legends is a round-up of Burnout gameplay and elements from other games in the series. In other words, not much in this game is, strictly speaking, new.

In fact, if you are a veteran of the series, or if you have played Burnout Revenge in particular before playing this, you may see some shortcomings in this version. The game is based on the older Burnout mechanics, not the most recent Revenge gameplay. This means that certain enhancements in Revenge aren't present and might prove to be a letdown to players. The one most closely at hand is the lack of rear-ending vehicles in traffic. This is sorely missed from Legends, as it provided the whole "traffic attack" race and made for some exhilarating gameplay.

Aside from the use of the older game engine, Burnout Legends offers a solid entry in the series. It has all the other components that you expect in a Burnout game. This includes the race types, crashing, replays, and over-the-top speed and racing gameplay. Legends also provides plenty of vehicles, vehicle classes, and tracks to play on.

Legends has a solid soundtrack, though some people may miss the ability to load up their own music to accompany the racing.

Overall, Burnout Legends is a great racing game and a great entry for the Burnout series.
