This is a Strategy-RPG from the makers of Disgaea, and one of the first for the PSP. It seemed to have a lot of depth, on paper, but in execution this is just a big mess of a game. First off, it's one of those games that requires you to read the manual to be able to play the game at all, because there is so much information in every screen you view, that everything is abbreviated to 3 letters, and not always logically. It also has a healthy dose of Engrish to boot, so following the story is hard (although honestly, it's a J-RPG-esque story, so there has to be a brooding, effeminette male lead, a world in peril, and stupid lengthy conversations about the substince of living or something else equally boring).
The main problem I have with this game is that, while you do manage your units on the world map, plus move them from one location to another, once the actual fighting starts, you only control 1 unit out of like 30, and the rest are AI controlled. The battles are big, involving equally sized armies, but without any real direct control, it's just a big cluster f*ck. the only controls you have during battles involve issuing blanket orders to your guys...fight, support, etc.
I was really disappointed with this release because NIS' (Nippon Ichi Systems, the developers) past offerings, while always over-the-top in the quirkiness department, always were bound to a solid combat system. Honestly, there are a ton of better games out there to buy, don't waste your money. I only paid $5 for it used from gamefly and i'm upset i spent that much! Rent it if you must, but save your money for a rainy day and flush this turd.
