This was a hard game to rate because I'm a fan of American McGee's previous work, including Quake 1-2 and Alice, not to mention the games that inspired him to make this one, the most obvious of which is the ol' Grand Theft Auto series (but also Jak 2 and 3 for ps2). On one hand it's a very fun, deep, customizable, and interesting game experience. On the other hand, it's incredibly repeditive, a bit high on the difficulty scale sometimes (requiring me to bust out a few of the cheat codes at a few points, mainly on the racing), and at times it seems like they only have 3-5 good ideas and continually milk them for all they're worth throughout the progression of the game. Not to say some games don't repeat themselves, even past the point of good taste, but for a game that was hyped as it was, and from a creator with such credentials, that you'd figure he'd have a bit more up his sleeve than fetch quests, racing, and fighting.
